The mining industry in Tunisia is minor but developing. Most of the recent development in the O&G sector has been led by small to mid-sized firms. The oil and gas industry is regulated in Tunisia by the ministry of energy, which jointly regulates the oil and gas exploration, extraction and production as well as the mining industry. The country’ s GDP per capita in 2013 was 9 900 USD which placed Tunisia on 119 location in the world. According to the data published in “The World Factbook”, production of oil in 2012 was at a level of 68 310 barrels per day, which placed Tunisia on 56 position in the world. Production of natural gas was 1,93 billion cubic meters (2011, 58 position in the world) and its resources are estimated for 65,13 billion cubic meters (2012, 60 position in the world).
